One of the city’s mainstays, continually operating and located downtown since 1897, Evans’ News is chock full of good things for locals and visitors alike. I like to go there for newspapers, and office and art supplies and prefer Evans’ over another similar store in town. There are only a limited number of shopping days left and they are open this Sunday and Monday, so you still have a chance to pick up some nice items.
A unique thing I’ve only found at Evans’ are geological rocks and fossils. For a reasonable price you can give a one of a kind gift, millions of years old. There are three cabinets filed with a variety of choices including geodes, Miocene fossils, amber, clear calcite, pyrite, ammonite and pre-historic sharks teeth. If none of these names mean anything to you, but you are still pondering what to give that is truly interesting, I suggest you head over before Christmas.
