We love the Clark’s events and we love French film (especially Fanny Ardant, grrrrowl). The Clark presents as part of the ongoing “In Amorous Fashion” Film Series: Ridicule
Patrice Leconte explores the mores of Versailles in the reign of Louis XIV, where rapier wit is the means of advancement and romance a snare and distraction. Fanny Ardant leads a sparkling French case in this suptuous and wickedly funny film.
“In Amorous Fashion: Films of Fragonard’s France” takes a look at French aristocratic style in Fragonard’s era during this Saturday afternoon film series. We’re not sure who Fragonard is, but after this series, I’m sure you’ll know.

Since 1932 Shaffe’s has been a mainstay on Main Street (how many “locals” can make that claim?). I’m not sure where to start as this small shop is packed front to back with any number of men’s apparel items. The real consistency is the quality and style of brands they carry, namely Johnson, Pendleton and Woolrich. If you are shopping for the man who cares about style, whether in hunting gear (woolen plaid gear) or black tie (tuxes sold and rented), Shaffe’s carries goods which will last for years. Fine accessories, such as cuff links, gloves and tie clasps are also available.
Books are a surefire bet in the Go Bennington household (hint, hint) and our own local store, the Bennington Bookshop, might seem small but is jammed with the finest books in print and carries a great selection of local writers as well. There is also a great children’s section, and tween, as well as staff picks if you really get stuck. Of course a gift certificate also goes a long way and let’s the receiver choose their own book.

We’re only a few weeks old and already space is getting limited on our site! Want to make sure your event gets listed? Invite us to rehearsals, your restaurant or store. Chocolate and coffee bribes are also gladly accepted. Or better yet contact us about advertising space. We plan on keeping visual clutter to a minimum so those in alloted spaces are sure to get maximum exposure. We also do our own photography and design and can create a custom ad for you.
Over the next few weeks we will be migrating to a dedicated server and plan on broadening the scope of this site. This will include more special sections such as our 12 (Shopping) Days of Christmas, and pages dedicated to local shops or events we really get behind.
As always we intend to bring you the best choices or your evenings and weekends, so you never miss out on anything happening in Bennington. Keep those tips and suggestions coming in and we’ll see you around town!
